Not having ever been a parent, I've watched these competitions with a detached curiosity, often wondering just who the children are attempting to win these accolades for? Like the soccer or hockey parents who lose their collective minds when a ref dings their precious on either the pitch or the ice, it feels more and that these brainiac competitions are more about the parents' desires, rather than the child's.
